In 1996, Michaela was working with her team on a full house renovation. The Kitchen was very old and shabby, with its tired, green linoleum floor; dirty, old, maple cabinets and extremely worn and scratched, red laminate counters. She was asked to “Do something with the counters,” which she was skeptical about trying. Not sure how the finish would hold up to wear and tear, Michaela tried a little experimentation with various products and techniques and thus created beautiful “new” faux finish counter tops which matched the kitchen floor perfectly. The first Countertop Transfauxmation was born. |

A light bulb went on and Michaela knew she was onto something unique that would save people thousands of dollars, though she knew she had to perfect the process before offering it to her clients.
Over a number of years she worked on her painting process, creating faux finish counter tops of marble, granite, stone, leather or simple rag roll designs on laminates of every color and condition. Some were scratched, burned, chipped and stained but the results were all equally striking. Her clients were always amazed and thrilled that she had given them an alternative to replacing kitchen counter tops while saving them disruption and, of
course, money. |

Michaela created a process to faux finish counter tops that was DURABLE, held up to general wear and tear, was water resistant and could be cleaned with cleansers so she decided to pass on her years of experience to you in a four step easy-to-follow DVD kit. |
|
To date she has sold her kit, “Countertop Transfauxmations” in 42 states, Canada and Mexico, has been featured in newspapers and magazines and on local TV and radio. This is the first in a series of Do-It-Yourself DVDs under the BY YOU® label especially for people on a budget or those like Michaela, who just like to get their hands dirty. |
